STILL LIGHT
ARTIST: Louise Ventris and Lindsey Tyson
CURATOR: Court Spencer
DATE: Dec - Feb 2026
VENUE: Eye Room, Leeds
Still Light brings together new paintings by Yorkshire artists Louise Ventris and Lindsey Tyson, whose work explores the beauty, emotion and quiet power of light. Both artists are drawn to the ways in which light transforms the everyday, shaping atmosphere, revealing detail and shifting perception. The exhibition invites a moment of stillness, encouraging viewers to slow down and notice the subtle play of illumination and shadow that surrounds us.
Louise captures fleeting moments when light touches the ordinary, distilling reflections on wet tarmac, the soft glow of windows in mist or headlights dissolving in rain. Her paintings balance movement and calm, finding poetry in transient scenes that often go unnoticed.
Lindsey approaches light through abstraction, working intuitively with layered textures and tonal shifts that evoke weather, time and place. Her process-driven practice results in surfaces that feel meditative and immersive, offering space for quiet contemplation.
Presented by The Art Court in collaboration with Eye Room, Still Light coincides with Eye Room’s tenth anniversary and reflects its continuing celebration of vision and detail. The exhibition brings together two complementary practices that each explore light as both revelation and mystery, offering a gentle meditation on how we see, sense and remember the world around us.
